Dear All,
On the eve of my departure to the Eastern APA in New York, I am distraught and would be extremely grateful if someone (preferably a privileged philosopher) were to offer some assistance.
As you may have read in previous posts at BIOPOLITICAL PHILOSOPHY, I am scheduled to present at the Eastern APA on Tuesday and at Syracuse University on Friday. I intended to read my presentations from my laptop.
Early this morning, my laptop slipped out of my hands, crashing on the floor, and breaking. The screen is on the verge of detaching. I have it propped against a wall at present. As an unemployed disabled philosopher, this sort of mishap has long been my nightmare: my computer would break down, I would not have any institutional tech support, and would not readily have the financial means to replace it.
One of my dear friends, upon listening to me recount the situation, made some phone calls on my behalf. When he was unable to find a computer repair business that could fix the laptop today, he very generously bought me a refurbished ThinkPad that is very similar to it.
What now?
The problem is that the computer is not set up in any way and I do not know how to do the required actions, including setting up email, transferring files and programs, etc. If I can get on the internet, I should be OK for the presentations because I put them in the compose section of BIOPOLITICAL PHILOSOPHY which I can log into from any computer with my password.
Would someone who is going to the Eastern APA be willing to help me out in this regard? That is, would someone be willing to meet with me in New York and help me set up my computer, transfer data, etc.? We could make it an exchange of services. I have significant expertise with various kinds of editing and proofreading and would be happy to repay you for your technical support with hours of this labour.
In any case, I would be very grateful for any assistance or advice you might offer. Please contact me as soon as possible at sltremain@gmail.com or s.tremain@yahoo.ca. I can offer more details in our conversation
Thank you for taking the time to read this BIOPOLITICAL PHILOSOPHY post.
Yours in struggle, Shelley
Good luck
