Remembering Charles Mills (Jan. 3, 1951-Sept. 20, 2021)

Charles was a monumental figure in philosophy and a kind and generous friend to me. A devastating loss the extent of which will deepen with time. The photo below was taken in Berlin during The Emancipation Conference weekend in May 2018.

Description of image below: A group of philosophers sitting around a cloth-covered table in the backyard patio of a Berlin restaurant. Charles Mills sits at the centre of the photo. He is smiling widely, his arms are crossed in front of him, and he is wearing a dress shirt and tie. Glasses and plates of bread are strewn on the table. People sit at other tables in the background of the shot. Potted plants line the perimeter of the patio.
