We welcome submissions from graduate students for the Minorities and Philosophy Workshop to be held on April 27th, 2019 at Brown University, Providence, RI. 

Keynote Speakers: Lori Gruen (Wesleyan University) and Lionel K. McPherson (Tufts University)

Submissions should take the form of an anonymized 4000-word papers accompanied by a 300-word abstract. Papers should be suitable for a 20-25 minute presentation. All submission should be sent to brownmapchapter@gmail.com by February 3rd, 2019. We aim to send out notification of acceptance by the end of February. We strongly encourage submissions from individual who identify as members of underrepresented groups in philosophy.

Submissions should meet at least one of the following criteria:

• Engage in an area of philosophy that is traditionally underrepresented including, but not limited to: Philosophy of Race, Philosophy of Gender, Feminist Philosophy, Philosophy of Disability, LGBTQ Philosophy, Indigenous Philosophy, Latinx Philosophy, Asian Philosophy, African/Africana, African-American, and Caribbean Philosophy, and Women in the History of Philosophy.
• Be in the area of social philosophy broadly construed (including intersections with ethics, philosophy of mind, epistemology, philosophy of language, and metaphysics). We especially encourage topics related to the goals of MAP, which are to: “examine and address issues of minority participation in academic philosophy.” Example topics include: implicit and explicit bias, stereotype threat, marginalization, solidarity, and activism.
• Engage with philosophers or methodologies that are underrepresented in English-speaking philosophy departments.

Housing with graduate students will be provided for speakers (if requested).
