The draft program for the upcoming Pacific APA meeting in Vancouver (April 17th-20th, 2019) went online in late November. The symposium on my book, Foucault and Feminist Philosophy of Disability, is scheduled for Thursday, April 18th, 1-4 p.m. My co-blogger, Melinda Hall, will chair the session. The other participants in the session are: Devonya Havis, Jesse Prinz, and Chloë Taylor. The symposium is co-sponsored by the APA Committee on the Status of Women in Philosophy and the Society for Philosophy and Disability.
To increase the accessibility of the session, we (i.e., the participants in the session) have decided upon the following: We will use CART (communication access real-time translation) throughout the presentations and question-and-answer/discussion portion of the session. (Learn more about CART here.) Our session will also include an intermission. Most of the last hour of the symposium will be devoted to the Q&A/discussion. The symposium will be published in a forthcoming issue of Feminist Philosophy Quarterly which we hope will go online relatively soon after the conference.
The roster and timetable for the symposium are as follows:
Chair’s introduction and overview: Melinda Hall (15 minutes)
Speakers’ commentaries: Devonya Havis, Jesse Prinz, Chloë Taylor (25 minutes each)
Intermission (10 minutes)
Author/Respondent’s remarks: Shelley Tremain (30 minutes)
Q&A/Discussion: Open to all in attendance (50 minutes)
We hope that you will join us in April!
