Philosophy and Theory of Disability in The Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Disability Studies!

On April 9, The Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Disability Studies (ORE) — a mammoth project whose contents will appear online on a rolling basis — was launched! As readers/listeners of BIOPOLITICAL PHILOSOPHY may recall, I edited/curated the Philosophy and Theory of Disability Area of the ORE (go here).

Yesterday, several authors who wrote for the Philosophy and Theory of Disability Area enthusiastically reported on Facebook that their respective articles have been posted to the ORE site, including Gen Eickers, Élaina Gauthier-Mamaril, and Tanya Tichkosky and Elaine Cagulada.

In scrolling the list of entries, I see that, so far, in the Area of Philosophy and Theory that I solicited and curated, articles by the following authors have been published:

Elvis Imafidon,

Licia Carlson,

Agnès Berthelot-Raffard,

Ada Jaarsma and Bailey Szustak,

Emily R. Douglas,

Sofia Jeppsson and Zsuzsanna Chappell,

C Dalrymple-Fraser,

Alan Santinele Martino and Thomas Tri,

Kelly Fritsch and Suze Berkhout,

Megan Dean,

Liz Bowen,

Lavonna Lovern,

Corinne Lajoie and Natalie Hardy,

and Kristin Rodier.

As I said, others will appear online henceforth, including articles by Andrea Pitts, Perry Zurn, Mich Ciurria, Johnathan Flowers, Robert Chapman and Clarissa Müller-Kosmarov, and me. The project is ongoing.

Furthermore, I have been asked to edit/curate the Area of Philosophy and Theory of Disability for the online Oxford Bibliographies, scheduled to launch in December of this year. An invitation to contribute to this endeavour may arrive in your inbox soon!

There’s lots of new philosophy of disability online and on the horizon!
